Thankfully, following the September car accident that left him with major injuries, Kevin Hart is on the road to recovery.
The comedian finally updated fans about his recovery status with a poignant video highlighting how his life has changed since the accident.
“Basically, what you realize is that you’re not in control,” Hart says at the start of the video, which he shared on Instagram. “No matter how much you think you’re in control, you’re not in control. At the end of the day, it can all be over, man.”
The video goes on to include news clips of the accident, with reporters discussing the harrowing accident.
Hart also struggles to walk during one moment in the clip, receiving assistance from nurses and a walker while in the hospital.
“When God talks, you gotta listen,” the comedian continues. “I honestly feel like God told me to sit down. When you’re moving too fast and doing too much sometimes you can’t see the things that you’re meant to see. After my accident, I see things differently.”
Hart goes on to thank his family, friends, and fans for their support during this time.
“I see life through a whole new perspective. My appreciation for life is through the roof. I’m thankful for my family, my friends. [I’m] thankful for the people that simple ride for me, that have been with me because you stood by me. My fans, [I’m] thankful for all your love and support,” he said, before concluding, “Don’t take today for granted because tomorrow’s not promised.”
Hart was involved in a September 1 crash in which the car he was riding in lost control and drove off Mulholland Highway in Malibu Hills, California around 1 a.m. The comedian was in the car with two people, Jared Black and Rebecca Broxterman. Hart sustained injuries in the crash and even had to undergo surgery. Although he was discharged after 10 days, according to Entertainment Weekly, Hart still requires physical therapy and sits down for most of the day.
