It was a day of mourning in Columbus, Georgia on Saturday, as hundreds of friends and family gathered for the funeral of Kim Porter.
The model and actress’ final farewell took place at Cascade Hills Church in Porter’s hometown. The likes of Kimora Lee Simmons, Usher, and Tichina Arnold were all in attendance.
Porter was later laid to rest next to her mother at Evergreen Memorial Park, following a procession that accompanied the golden casket.
According to
TMZ, Diddy, Porter’s son Quincy Brown, Mary J. Blige and Dallas Austin all spoke at the funeral. Yolanda Adams and Faith Evans paid musical tributes, while Bishop Noel Jones delivered the eulogy. Acclaimed pastor T.D. Jakes officiated the service,
People Magazine reports.
Porter was found dead in her Toluca Lake, California home earlier this month. Authorities are still unable to pinpoint the cause of death.
TMZ also shared snippets of the heartfelt and moving tribute delivered by Diddy at the ceremony.
“Anybody who knows Kim, she was just a person that you vibe with,” he said at one point. “I can’t put our relationship into a box. She told me that she thought God sent her here to help me out. I’d be like, ‘girl, what are you talking about…’”
In his 15 minute tribute, Diddy talked about how Porter taught him how to love, and how she was even a rock for him when he struggled through a bout of depression earlier this year. He talked about their evolving relationship, and how it grew from girlfriend and boyfriend to solid friends as they raised a blended family.
Porter’s son, Quincy Brown, who also spoke during the final, struggled through tears to finish his own remarks. He was supported by his biological father, Al B. Sure, and Diddy, who has claimed Quincy as his child.
As he finished off his tribute, Diddy reminded his children that he would always be there for them.
“I just want to say to my kids—Justin, Christian, D’Lila, Jessie, Chance, and the other man in the house Quincy… your mother instilled me in me this. And I pledge in front of everyone that I will always be there for you…”
“We love you Kim,” he finished.
