Lee Daniels has made good on his promise to settle his debt to Dame Dash.
The director received financial support from Dash towards the beginning of his career, and reportedly failed to repay the investment despite the success he’s had with films like The Butler and hit shows such as Empire.
After years of mentioning the debt in interviews — even confronting him at a party in a now viral clip — Dash filed suit in the matter requesting $5 million from Daniels to recoup his investment with interest.
According to TMZ who reviewed documents from the case, the matter was resolved amicably for an undisclosed amount and each side was responsible for paying their own lawyer’s fees.
Dash told the network that he was content with how Daniels opted to resolve their issue. “I’m good. Just happy two people from the culture could work things out,” he said.
