It’s a somber time in the Walker clan as Letoya Luckett and her husband, Tommicus Walker, mourn the loss of Walker’s mother, Ruby.
In an Instagram caption, it was revealed that Ruby succumbed to a battle with cancer.
Luckett took to Instagram Wednesday to also remember the woman Ruby was.
“I still can’t believe I’m writing this. It’s hard to think we were just singing one of your favorite songs, ‘I Won’t Complain’ as you lay in bed in unbearable pain,” the singer began in the lengthy caption. “In that moment, I realized your strength and your unshakable faith in God.”
Luckett, who now stars in T.I. and Tiny: Friends & Family Hustle, added that although Ruby was her “mother-in-love,” she was also her “friend , confidant, [and] prayer partner, who I could call anytime to share a laugh with.”
The singer went onto thank Ruby for “holding the family down. Thank you for always having an encouraging word. Thank you for loving me and being there.”
“I learned SO MUCH from you in our time together and I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to love you,” Luckett continued.
She ended her touching tribute by writing, “Rest well ma! I love you beyond your years here and for eternity.”
On the couple’s joint Instagram account, a photo of Ruby was shared with the tragic caption: “My heart is broken, life will never be the same without you momma.”
Luckett and Walker wed in a lavish Texas ceremony in 2017. The two welcomed a daughter named Gianna earlier this year, in January, who became a little sister to Walker’s daughter from a previous relationship.
