On Wednesday, animal rights activists gathered outside the Extra studios in NYC to request that rapper Lil Kim stop wearing fur. However, things got a bit heated when one protestor invaded the rapper’s personal space, shouting “Stop wearing fur!”
Kim opened up about the exchange during her interview with Extra, sharing she had no issue with peaceful protests but refused to allow people to invade her space.
“I do not mind protesting,” she told host Nate Burleson. “I think you should definitely stand up for your right. I love, love animals… However, you do not take things into your own hands. You do not get aggressive. You do not jump into anyone’s space.”
“Peaceful protests mean more than anything… Go ahead, PETA, keep doing what you do,” Kim continued. “I am supporting you from a distance if you’re not in my upper space trying to violate. At the end of the day, I understand what you are fighting for.”
The rapper was there to promote her upcoming album 9, which includes recently released single “Found You,” featuring OT Genasis and City Girls.
Last weekend, Kim was received the I Am Hip Hop Award at the BET Hip Hop Awards, where she performed with Lil Cease.
