Stripped, Macy Gray is back with a new album.
Released in September, Gray’s
Ruby features hit single “White Man” and “Sugar Daddy,” which she co-wrote with Megan Trainor.
The video for “Sugar Daddy” is an homage to
Lady Sings The Blue and features Evan Ross, whose mother, the iconic Diana Ross, starred in the 1972 film about Billie Holiday.
Speaking with ESSENCE, Gray calls
Ruby a “really smart” and “exquisite” album.
“The production is amazing. Even if it wasn’t my album I would tell you the same thing. I think it’s uplifting, I think it will make people feel better.
