After the Clemson University Tigers topped the University of Alabama’s Crimson Tide to win the 2019 College Football Playoff National Championship they were invited to the White House for a celebration.
But because of the government shutdown, the party looked very different than in years past with President Donald Trump serving fast food for the customary meal.
Great being with the National Champion Clemson Tigers last night at the White House. Because of the Shutdown I served them massive amounts of Fast Food (I paid), over 1000 hamburgers etc. Within one hour, it was all gone. Great guys and big eaters!
While Trump claimed the team loved the unconventional meal, Good Morning America co-host, Michael Strahan wasn’t impressed like many other U.S. citizens, and he invited the team to New York City for a “proper meal.”
“I would like to invite the Clemson Tiger football team here for a great meal,” the former NFL star said on GMA Day earlier this week.
“Whoever can make it, we’ll hook you up with lobster. Whatever you want, we’re going to take care of you,” Strahan added. “We’re going to give you the proper meal that you deserve because that was one great game, a great accomplishment.”
Strahan isn’t the only one who offered to give the Clemson Tigers a do-over. Rapper Quavo also invited the team to the Migos’ Quality Control headquarters for a real meal.
I WANNA SHOW CLEMSON TIGERS AND POTUS HOW CHAMPS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE TREATED YALL WELCOME TO COME BY THE QC HEADQUARTERS ANYTIME Dabbin DABO STILL #GODAWGS The Stir Fry Way!
“I WANNA SHOW CLEMSON TIGERS AND POTUS HOW CHAMPS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE TREATED,” the rapper tweeted. “YALL WELCOME TO COME BY THE QC HEADQUARTERS ANYTIME”
While it’s unclear if the Tigers will take Strahan and Quavo up on their offers, there’s no doubt the champs will be eating good real soon.
