Chocolate fountains and customized wine tumblers are cool, but nothing can top having Michelle Obama officiate your Chicago wedding ceremony.
One couple was granted that honor when our forever first lady took some time away from preparing for her upcoming book tour for Becoming.
Although USA Today reports that Mrs. Obama officiated the nuptials of Stephanie Rivkin and Joel Sircus, other reports indicated that Obama didn’t officiate the wedding, but instead lead the two in reciting their vows.
One person at the wedding shared a video of the surreal moment on Instagram with the caption: “Holy Moly. That moment when Michelle Obama officiated at your [cousin’s] wedding.” Although it was quickly deleted, TMZ got their hands on it anyway.
The bride’s family has personal and political ties to the Obama family. Rivkin’s father, Robert Rivkin, is Chicago’s deputy mayor. Her mother Cindy Moelis is the president of a charity started byPenny Pritzker, who served as the Secretary of Commerce in the Obama administration.
No matter how well coordinated the viral dance number you and your bridesmaids are planning, chances are you probably won’t be able to get Mrs. O to bless your nuptials.
Don’t worry though you can still get tickets to hear her discuss life, love, and everything in between here.
