On Monday, VH1 celebrated all things 90s with a very special Hip-Hop Honors: The ’90s Game Changers.
There were a number of performances from Mariah Carey, Lil Kim, Remy Ma and Fat Joe, Teyana Taylor, and more. However, there was one performance people couldn’t stop talking about, Missy Elliott‘s.
Elliott hit the stage to perform her 1999 hit “She’s a Bitch,” wearing the black costume from the iconic video. In an old video she dubbed the look “ghetto S&M.”
Fans hit Twitter to pay their respects to the visionary as she performed during the ceremony with one person writing, “Legendary status: when u can pay homage to your own damn self!”
Elliott also gave a shoutout to stylist June Ambrose, who came up with the incredible look and answered a fan’s question about how it all came together.
Elliott’s perfomance Monday night is just further proof that the icon is in a league of her own.
