Nominations for the MTV Video Music Awards, which airs next month, have finally been announced. Baby news aside, Cardi B has had an exceptional year: She leads the pack with 10 nominations, including video of the year, artist of the year, and best new artist. Following closely behind are The Carters a.k.a. Beyoncé and Jay-Z with eight nominations, Childish Gambino and Drake are tied for seven. Lastly, Bruno Mars has an impressive six nominations, five of which come from the popular collab with Cardi B on the “Finesse (Remix).”
The Carters secured nominations for best song, best collab, and video of the year for their “APESH*T” video; Childish Gambino also snagged a nomination for video of the year for his powerful “This Is America” and received a nom for video with a message as well. Drake’s “God’s Plan” also received nominations in these two categories.
Chloe x Halle, Janelle Monae, Rihanna, and J. Cole are also up for awards. Starting this week, fans can begin voting in eight VMA categories, including Video of the Year, Artist of the Year, Best Collaboration and more by visiting here.
The “VMAs” will air live from Radio City Music Hall on Monday, August 20 at 9:00 p.m. ET. See the full list of nominations below.
