Last night, Trevor Noah took a seat behind what was formerly Jon Stewart’s big desk as the new host of The Daily Show.
The South African comedian covered a wide range of topics from Pope Francis to John Boehner’s resignation and perhaps the funniest yet, the discovery of water on Mars, in which skit with “correspondent” Roy Wood, Jr., covers why “Black people ain’t going to Mars.”
Later in the show Kevin Hart made a special appearance gifting Noah with a box of ties.
Noah brought an exciting new energy to the show. He’s not Jon Stewart, and he certainly wasn’t trying to be. He compared Stewart’s 16-year-run on The Daily Show to a father leaving his children. “Dad has left,” joked Noah, “and now it feels like the family has a new stepdad… and he’s Black, which is not ideal.”
How would you grade Trevor Noah’s first day as host of The Daily Show?
