She’s looking for new romance with an old flame. NeNe Leakes believes her recent engagement to ex-husband Gregg Leakes is their second chance at love. “We were married the first time for 13 years before and this time we hope it’s forever,” she said at ESSENCE’s Black Women in Music event. She adds that she loves rekindling her romance with Gregg. “It’s great the second time around,” she said. “I think we’re going to be very successful.”
The reality star said “yes” to her ex-hubby’s proposal a little after midnight this past New Year’s Eve.
The couple divorced in 2011. Gregg, who claimed to have bankrolled his wife’s career for $300,000, accused Nene of letting fame go to her head. Though she wouldn’t divulge on the details of their breakup, NeNe hinted that it may have been to do with an affair. “I let him know you’re going to be my husband and you’re not going to be somebody else’s anything, but if you plan to be somebody else’s anything then we can’t be together,” she told Ebony.
She now thinks the divorce taught Gregg a good lesson. “For all the ladies out there, you have to teach a man a lesson every now and then,” she told ESSENCE.com. “I think I have done that wonderfully. It was a good lesson.”
