Niecy Nash has no regrets about hooking up her friend Sherri Shepherd with her now ex-husband Lamar Sally.
“The point [Sherri] was in her life, she would have found any version of that man,” Nash told Wendy Williams during an appearance on her show this morning.
“She was at a place to draw a specific energy to her. And that doesn’t have anything to do with me.”
Shepherd and Sally met at a matchmaker party hosted by Nash and her husband Jay Tucker, and both actresses were in each other’s weddings.
“I can have a matchmaking party, but I can’t tell you which man to pick,” joked Nash.
Asked whether she ever felt pressure to choose a side after Shepherd and Sally filed for divorce, Nash said the decision to remain on “Team Sherri” wasn’t a difficult one.
“Sherri is my ride or die till the day I die,” she said.
Sally filed for divorce in May after three years of marriage. In an interview with Inside Edition this week, the 44-year-old TV writer and producer accuses his ex-wife of initiating the divorce.
Shepherd, who recently wrapped up a Broadway run in Cinderella, says she’s doing very well. “As long as you can get up and stand up, it’s another chance to get things right,” Shepherd told Queen Latifah. “Now if he (Lamar Sally) would stop talking about it in public I would be doing better. But I’m doing great. I’m moving. I’m grooving. Everything is good.”
