Offset can’t seem to catch a break. The Migos rapper is in hot water with the law once again, following his arrest in Georgia last summer.
Prosecutors have reportedly filed three charges against the hip hop star–real name Kiari Kendrell Cephus–all stemming from a traffic incident that his lawyers considered bogus.
According to TMZ, the Clayton County District Attorney’s Office said that Offset is facing a felony charge for firearms possession by a convicted felon, along with misdemeanor charges for marijuana possession and a lane change.
The “Clout” lyricist pleaded not guilty last month, and subsequently the felony charge has been dropped. Offset is scheduled to return to court next month to deal with the rest of the charges.
Last July, Offset’s attorney, Drew Findling, lambasted the police for racial profiling.
“It’s a common theme. We’re talking about a young, African-American man driving a shiny, beautiful luxury car and clad in designer clothes and watches and jewelry,” he said.
“Unfortunately people in his genre become a target for law enforcement who think that lifestyle is connected to some illegal activity…and that is a sad statement.”
The news for Offset comes days after his wife, Cardi B, appeared in court in connection to a fight last August inside of a New York strip club. The rapper, whose birth name is Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, rejected a plea deal on Friday and she’s now scheduled to appear back in court next month as well, according to CNN.
