Omari Hardwick almost became a literal ghost when he planted a pair of kisses on Beyoncé at this year’s NAACP Image Awards. The Beyhive swarmed into formation against the Power star trying to figure out what he could have been thinking when he doubled back for another peck on Queen Bey’s cheek.
Strahan And Sara host Michael Strahan questioned the actor about the now-viral greeting when he stopped by the daytime talk show Thursday with the cast of Power.
Hardwick looked taken aback by the question, but just like her television persona Tasha, his onscreen wife Naturi Naughton had her partner’s back. She quickly leapt to his aid before he could respond to the question.
“You know the [Beyhive] try to come for my boy, my TV husband. He was just being a friend,” she exclaimed. “Why can’t friends kiss and hug anymore?”
Naughton, who was right by Hardwick’s side when the kisses happened, maintained that the incident was completely innocent.
“I was there and it was so not a situation,” she added.
The final season of Power returns to Starz on August 25.
