For those who are still holding out that Oprah might actually run for the presidency, she reiterated again recently that she never would because it would “kill” her.
Winfrey told British Vogue, for the July cover story, that she has never been interested in running for president, repeating the same stance she has held for the last year.
“In that political structure — all the non-truths, the bullshit, the crap, the nastiness, the backhanded backroom stuff that goes on — I feel like I could not exist,” Winfrey told the magazine. “I would not be able to do it. It’s not a clean business. It would kill me.”
And we surely don’t want that to happen.
After her riveting Golden Globes speech earlier this year, many have called for the media mogul to toss her hat in the ring for the 2020 U.S. presidential race.
But Oprah has repeatedly said that she is not interested in the position, especially since she has yet to receive a sign from God.
“I went into prayer,” she told People Magazine. “‘God, if you think I’m supposed to run, you gotta tell me, and it has to be so clear that not even I can miss it.’ And I haven’t gotten that.”
