Oprah Winfrey revealed that she was pre-diabetic before joining the Weight Watchers program four years ago.
The media mogul revealed the news in a letter to Weight Watcher members as part of the organization raising awareness for Global Wellness Day. She says that she has regained her health back since becoming a shareholder.
“I haven’t shared with many, but I will share with you, that I was diagnosed with prediabetes before WW,” she wrote, adding that her blood pressure “is now stabilized and in a healthy range.”
“I am proud to tell you [that my blood sugar is] back to normal too!”
Oprah wrote that her mother Vernita, who passed away last year, also “had type 2 diabetes and was dependent on insulin.”
“Beyond the weight, WW has helped me make healthier choices and understand the real numbers that matter most,” she says.
