Prince Harry has announced that he’s working with Oprah Winfrey on a mental health series, set to debut on Apple TV+ next year.
The yet-to-be-named show was co-created and co-executive produced by Prince Harry and, the royal announced on his Instagram account Wednesday.
“We are excited to announce that The Duke of Sussex and Oprah Winfrey are partners, co-creators and executive producers on their forthcoming mental health series launching on Apple in 2020,“ the statement read. ”The pair have been developing the series for several months and are looking forward to sharing such an important project on this global platform.”
The documentary series will focus on mental illness and mental wellbeing, an area that Prince Harry has been passionate about.
“I truly believe that good mental health–mental fitness–is the key to powerful leadership, productive communities and a purpose-driven self,” he said in a statement. “It is a huge responsibility to get this right as we bring you the facts, the science and the awareness of a subject that is so relevant during these times. I am incredibly proud to be working alongside Oprah on this vital series.”
As for Winfrey, she announced her exclusive partnership with Apple+ last month.
“We all crave connection, we search for common ground. We want to be heard but also we need to listen, to be open and contribute and to harness our hopes and dreams and heal our divisions,” said Winfrey from the Steve Jobs Theater.
This partnership comes as no surprise to avid royal watchers as Winfrey was a guest at the wedding of Prince Harry to Meghan Markle in last May.
