When the
Real Housewives of Atlanta cast came together to support
Nene Leakes at the beginning of season 11, it looked like Porsha Williams and Kandi Burruss were back on good terms after a rocky relationship on season 10. But on a recent episode where Kandi invited Porsha’s former employee to her office to talk about her new fiancé,
Dennis McKinley, the door to a truce slammed shut once again.
Porsha was a guest on ESSENCE’s
Yes Girl! Podcast this week where she revealed that she was disappointed by Kandi’s words. “She came at the guy I’m dating, she came at me,” Porsha said referring to a scene where Kandi, best friend Carmen, and her former employee are shown discussing her fiancé’s previous relationships. “We didn’t know that was happening,” said Porsha.
After spending most of season 10 apologizing for rumors she spread about Kandi and her husband Todd, Porsha says she was hoping the two could get a fresh start.
“I wanted her to forgive me,” she continued, “and I appreciated at the reunion that she received that. And I felt like we were going to move forward. Not necessarily as friends, but that we were going to leave the past in the past. Unfortunately for the type of show that this is and what she felt she needed to do to have content, she betrayed that truce.”
Asked whether she was afraid of the scrutiny after revealing her new beau on the show, Porsha said she had done her best to prepare McKinley for life in the spotlight. But hearing his past put on front street still stung. “It’s really something you cannot prepare for,” she said.
“The main thing I let him know was I have your back,” she added.
The pregnant
Housewives star is expecting her first child,
a girl, with McKinley.
She recently shared a video of baby “Porsha Jr.” dancing in her belly.
