It’s no surprise that President Barack Obama and Donald Trump disagree on many issues, and in an interview on The Tonight Show, the Commander-in-Chief joked that the beef dates back to their childhood.
“This all dates back to when we were growing up together in Kenya,” Obama said, laughing. “We had constant run-ins on the soccer field, and he wasn’t very good at it. When we finally moved to America, I thought it would be over.”
Yesterday, Trump released a “major announcement” video on YouTube urging the President to be more transparent and release his college and passport records. In exchange, The Apprentice star, who endorsed Mitt Romney in February, offered to donate a $5 million check to the charity of Obama’s choice.
The Obama-Trump disagreement dates back to 2011 when the business mogul publicly questioned whether the President was born in the United States. In response, the Obama Administration released a copy of his long-form birth certificate and weeks later President Obama roasted Trump at the 2011 White House Correspondent’s Dinner.
Despite the feud, President Obama told Leno that he and Trump have never met.
