Issa Rae’s Insecure is having a moment.
With season two a go and the newly announced Golden Globe and NAACP Image Awards nominations, the show is living its best life.
And, as Issa Rae, found out this week, the show has a surprising, but important, fan: President Obama. Rae attended the White House Christmas Party with co-star Yvonne Orji Thursday evening, and POTUS made sure to let them know that he loves the show.
Yesterday @POTUS saw @IssaRae and @YvonneOrji and told them how much he loves @insecurehbo and how he loves the music and we ALL DIED. pic.twitter.com/nB0cvkZvIP

“President Obama watches Insecure, he said he can’t quote none of it until after he’s president,” Rae said in a Twitter video from the White House posted by Luvvie Ajayi. She was basically freaking out alongside Orji. “He said our soundtrack is lit. He said we’re doing great work, what else did he say?,” Rae asked Orji.
“Everything we would’ve loved for him to say, he said it,” Orji replied.
Rae also took to twitter to share her joy:
President Obama actually spoke to me at length about #InsecureHBO. Like … HOW 'POSED TO RECOVER?! HOW?!

The President also said he loved the soundtrack, a nod to Solange and Raphael Saadiq who are the show’s music consultant and composer, respectively. The soundtrack itself is now on sale and you can pick it up here
We are gagging just imagining President Obama quoting Issa and Molly’s conversations!
President Obama recognized me and @YvonneOrji. AND HE HUGGED MY MOM. I'm dead. 2016 is the best year ever. IDCIDCIDC. pic.twitter.com/ncR2L6Ti4o
