Queen Latifah is a Hollywood vet.
And she has one key stipulation in her contract that ensures that she will continue acting for years to come: she cannot die in any movie she is in.
After her character “died her ass off” in the classic Set It Off, Latifah told Late Night With Seth Meyers that she added a “death clause” to her contract.
“I put a death clause in my contract right after that movie,” she said in the interview earlier this week. “I was like, ‘Wait a minute, I’m starting to die too good in these movies. Hold up — if I die, then I can’t be in the sequel.’”
Latifah’s character in Set It Off was killed off at the end of the movie. If a sequel had been greenlit, she would have missed out on guaranteed money!
One thing is for sure: if there is a Girls Trip 2, Latifah will be back!
