After her character “died her ass off” in the classic Set It Off, Latifah told Late Night With Seth Meyers that she added a “death clause” to her contract.
“I put a death clause in my contract right after that movie,” she said in the interview earlier this week. “I was like, ‘Wait a minute, I’m starting to die too good in these movies. Hold up — if I die, then I can’t be in the sequel.’”
Latifah’s character in Set It Off was killed off at the end of the movie. If a sequel had been greenlit, she would have missed out on guaranteed money!
One thing is for sure: if there is a Girls Trip 2, Latifah will be back!
