Last week the Internet was buzzing over Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj’s American Idol beef. Another well-known diva, Queen Latifah, shared her opinion on Anderson Cooper saying, “You gotta respect your elders to a point.”
When asked whose side she’s on, the Steel Magnolias star said, “I would definitely not take sides in ignorance… but that’s really not about them. At the end of the day, they are both very blessed to be in a position that they are. It’s about giving a leg up to the new people who want to be a Nicki or be a Mariah.”

While playing it fair, Queen Latifah made it known that Carey earned her place in history. “But Mariah? Come on now! We’re talking about a hundred million right there,” she said. “That’s a grand diva, but I love Nicki too.”
Since last week’s spat between the two judges, Carey phoned into to The View to speak with her good friend Barbara Walters. Carey revealed that she wasn’t feeling “comfortable emotionally” after Minaj threatened to shoot her. In an effort to keep herself safe, Carey hired extra security which was seen accompanying her during a photo shoot in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Neither Carey nor Minaj have threatened to leave the show. There’s been much speculation that perhaps all the drama is a ratings ploy.
