Real Housewives of Atlanta star Tanya Sam said she’s thankful for all the support she’s received following a car crash that left her with gastrointestinal bleeding.
The TV personality told People magazine that she’s finally “back in the swing of things” after spending two days in the hospital.
Recounting the horrifying accident, Sam told the publication that it felt like time had slowed down when the Uber vehicle, in which she was riding in, crashed into another car.
“I could see the car coming. I could feel our speed, and my brain is going ‘We are not going to clear this car!’ I remember starting to scream and BAM! We kind of bulldozed through the car,” she said.
It seemed passengers from both vehicles were left uninjured, with Sam’s fiancé Dr. Paul Judge only reporting minor back pain. Still, Sam said later she showed signs of an internal injury.
The RHOA star’s stomach was swollen and achy. She also noted feeling tired and dizzy, but brushed off the symptoms as signs of sickness from travel.
“I panicked for a minute,” she said. “My husband was holding my hair and he was like, ‘Maybe it’s food poisoning.’ And I’m a nurse—nurses are the worst patients because they’re always like, ‘This isn’t a big deal.’”
However, Sam eventually went to the hospital after she began vomiting and saw blood in her stool.
On social media, the reality star thanked doctors at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, who diagnosed and treated her for gastrointestinal bleeding. The TV personality also thanked fans and family, including her sister, for their support and care.
“The love is real, the dog is fake. But is it weird if I kinda love the dog anyways. Thank you both for taking such good care of me @pauljudge @missladymara,” she wrote on Instagram.
ESSENCE reached out to Uber, who has yet to comment on the accident.
