Remy Ma is out on bail after surrendering herself to the authorities Wednesday.
The “All The Way Up” rapper, whose birth name is Reminisce Smith, was accused of assaulting her Love & Hip Hop: New York cast mate Brittney Taylor, according to TMZ.
The alleged assault reportedly took place during a benefit concert hosted by Smith’s longtime friend and collaborator Fat Joe inside New York’s Irving Plaza.
Taylor told the New York Daily News that Remy punched her in the face after a misunderstanding regarding an incident involving Smith’s step-daughter Dejanae. She told the paper that she was unable to convince Remy that she was protecting the young woman from a man, and not attempting to attack her during a spring break trip to Miami.
“She was like, ‘That’s not what I heard,’ and she punched me in the face,” said Taylor.
Taylor was reportedly treated for minor injuries, including a bruised right eye.
Following the alleged attack, Remy, who previously served six years for intentional assault following a 2008 shooting, posted several pictures on social media sporting a new accessory—an ankle monitor.
Her lawyer, Dawn Flori, reported that the rapper was being forced to adhere to a stricter curfew, 8 p.m., as a result of the assault allegation. Flori also said there was no way Remy could have assaulted Taylor since “at 9:30 p.m. she was nursing her 4-month-old child.”
And on Thursday afternoon, New York State’s Division of Parole told TMZ that that incident might be a violation of Remy’s parole and they’ve launched an investigation to determine. If so, the rapper’s parole could be revoked and she could be open to additional jail time.
Taylor’s attorney, Sanford Rubenstein, said in a statement that Remy’s “arrest demonstrates how serious this matter is, it is real life and not reality TV entertainment. The victim Brittney Taylor has confidence in our system of justice and will continue to fully cooperate with the authorities.”
The judge in the case has issued an order of protection that prevents Remy and Taylor from having any further contact with one another.
