Rihanna is giving back to impoverished communities in Malawi by providing girls with bikes and scholarships.
The singer has always been an outspoken advocate of educating young girls, now RiRi is providing bikes to girls in Malawi to help them get to school safely through her Clara Lionel Foundation.
According to Billboard, the singer’s charity has teamed up with bike-sharing company ofo to donate bikes and fund scholarships through Clara Lionel Foundation’s Global Scholarship Program.
“I’m so happy about the Clara Lionel Foundation’s new partnership with ofo because it will help so many young people around the world receive a quality education, and also help the young girls of Malawi get to school safely, cutting down those very long walks they make to and from school all alone,” Rihanna said in a statement.
Rihanna and ofo’s charitable efforts go beyond recent initiatives.
The “Work” singer met with French president Emmanuel Macron just last week [link to our story] to discuss educational funds for girls in France. In the same vein, ofo has launched similar efforts by providing scholarships to U.S. universities for students in Brazil, Haiti, Barbados, Jamaica and Guyana.
