Ila isn’t the first celebrity offspring to transition. Between 2008-2010, Chaz Bono, son of Cher and Sonny Bono, underwent female to male gender transition. During his transition, Bono’s publicist Howard Bragman told the press, “He is proud of his decision and grateful for the support and respect that has already been shown by his loved ones. It is Chaz’s hope that his choice to transition will open the hearts and minds of the public regarding this issue, just as his coming out did”
In 2014, R. Kelly’s son Jay came out as transgender, writing on his Ask.fm page, “[My mom] was like, ‘Baby, you know I love you if you were bi, gay, [lesbian], you name it and I would still love you so much. She was very proud of me, I was like, ‘Thank you mom for accepting the fact that I’m a transgender.’”
We hope Ila is getting the love and support he needs and wish him the best as he begins his transition.
