Sevyn Streeter finally got a chance to perform the Star Spangled Banne at a Philadelphia 76ers game after the organization previously turned her away for wearing a ‘We Matter’ jersey.
Back in October, the singer was set to perform during a Sixers game, but was told she couldn’t because of the jersey she was wearing.
“I was never given any kind of dress code,” she later told reporters. “I was never asked beforehand to show my wardrobe. I was angry — extremely, extremely angry — and disappointed and honestly brought to tears by all of it. It broke my heart. Honestly, I was very excited about being able to perform the national anthem. I was really looking forward to that.

The Sixers organization eventually released an apology after discussing the incident with the team and finding that many players were not on board with the decision to nix Streeter’s performance.
The songstress returned to perform the national anthem just before the 76ers took on the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night and of course, she nailed it. Her performance was met with a massive round of applause from the crowd. “Full Circle Moment with @sixers X #WEMATTER,” she tweeted shortly after the memorable moment.
