Shonda Rhimes, the Emmy-nominated genius behind Scandal and How To Get Away With Murder, slayed Halloween when she dressed as the Grammy-winning and Golden Globe-nominated music legend Beyoncé, creating a collision of two industry icons.
Who else would Rhimes be for Halloween? Who else is on her level? Dressed as “Formation” Beyoncé in all black, long braids, and an oversized hat with perfect accessories, Rhimes captioned her photo, “I dream it, I work hard, I grind ’til I own it…” #ShondalandHalloween #shondaland (I committed to my costume!).”
Earlier this year, Rhimes gave a shout-out to Beyoncé during her TED talk, saying, “For me my work is at all times, building a nation out of thin air, it is manning the troops, it is painting a canvas, it is hitting every high note, it is running a marathon, it is being Beyoncé.”

And, later, she told Vulture that Bey was the only person she listened to in the morning: “I have breakfast with myself, figure out what I’m going to do for the day… I have to admit, pretty much every morning, I have a tiny little dance party. Lately, it’s with Beyoncé. So Beyoncé and I are having a little dance party every morning. I’m getting in formation. And that usually puts me in a good mood. And then I leave the house.”
This isn’t the first time the show creator has put together the perfect costume. Last year, Rhimes dressed as Scandal character Mellie Grant, wearing a robe and “Mellie” t-shirt. “I’m Mellie for Halloween. Wanted to go as Olivia. But that would have required combing my hair. So…” she joked.
Rhimes has also been known to carve a pretty solid pumpkin.
