Singer Peabo Bryson has been hospitalized after suffering a mild heart attack “at his home in the early morning hours of Saturday,” his rep told ESSENCE Monday in a statement.
“He is currently listed in stable condition and is awake and responsive. Both his medical team and family are optimistic for a speedy recovery,” the statement continued. “At this time, privacy is requested; however, the thoughts and prayers of friends and fans are welcomed and appreciated.”
Bryson has won two Grammy Awards during his decades-long career. In 1992, he won a Grammy for his performance of “Beauty and the Beast” with Celine Dion. And in 1993, Bryson picked up a Grammy Award for “A Whole New World” with Regina Belle.
He’s also known for his romantic duets, including “What You Won’t Do for Love”, with Natalie Cole and “For You and I” with Angela Bofill.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Bryson and his family at this time. We hope he makes a speedy recovery.
