Model Slick Woods recently revealed that she’s currently undergoing chemotherapy.
The 23-year-old didn’t share many details about her diagnosis, but The Shade Room claims that the model is battling stage 3 melanoma cancer.
Woods revealed her treatment news on Instagram, writing, “How I feel about chemotherapy, shout out to everyone that gotta go through it #atleastimalreadybald.”
She later followed up the post with a request to fans to “stop treating me like a victim.”
“Modern-day Gia without the drugs,” Woods continued, referencing 80s supermodel Gia Carangi, who passed away in 1986 due to AIDS-related complications following years of struggle with drug abuse. “‘Where does everyone go when they have to go?’ I thought I told y’all I’m not (sic) no victim.”
Many of Woods’ famous friends gave her words of support following her announcement.
Oscar nominee Taraji P. Henson wrote in a comment, “You are already on the other side of this [healthy] and strong like it never happened. I adore you.”
“Love u sis,” Lala Anthony added in another.
Last year, Woods welcomed a son, Saphir, with model Adonis Bosso. Singer Erykah Badu acted as the model’s doula.
Woods became a familiar face following her work with Rihanna’s Fenty brand, appearing on the runway for Savage x Fenty and ads for the company’s makeup products.
Following the birth of her son in Septmebr 2018, Woods confirmed that she had gone into labor while walking the runway.
