Throughout Black Friday, protesters across the country staged demonstrations at malls and retail stores to express outrage at the Ferguson grand jury decision not to indict Officer Darren Wilson. Solange Knowles has joined the Ferguson protests in her own way. She posted on her Instagram page that she will not be premiering her latest sneaker collection for Puma on Black Friday.
“To echo my feelings shared surrounding the outcome of the Michael Brown case, I have solely decided to postpone the release of my Puma collaboration originally scheduled to release this Friday November 28 to Monday December 1,” the newlywed singer wrote.
The collection, called Wild Wonder, was the Solange’s second collaboration with Puma after the successful release of her first collection, Girls of Blaze in February this year. The singer worked tirelessly for months to get this sneaker design right.
“This process was a bit more intense than the Girls of Blaze because we took a lot of risks, and created a lot of tweaks to get it right,” she told Saint Heron. “I love them both so much.”
But for now, it looks like her conviction to stand by Michael Brown’s family and the people of Ferguson is her priority.
