Solange wasn’t going to let 2016 end without giving us another souful performance and fierce fashion moment. On Thursday night, the “A Seat At The Table” singer hit The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to perform a medley of “Rise” and “Weary.” The subdued yet powerful lyrics were strengthened by her crimson-hued set and matching costumes.
The striking red, body-hugging jumpsuits worn by Solange and her background singers (Isadora Mendez and Franchelle Lucas) were beautifully connected to one another by bands of fabric — creating a train of sarotiral splendor.
And anyone who has watched the video for Solange’s “Cranes In The Sky” video will recongnize the simialrity between “The Tonight Show” look and the lavendar colored frocks in the video.
What’s even more exciting is that the string of jumpsuits were designed by Solange’s mother, Tina Lawson, along with the help of Timothy White. In an Instagram post Lawson details that it was “Solange’s idea to connect them. She’s always thinking out the box.”
If you’re familiar with the over-the-top fashions rocked Destiny’s Child and the early years of Beyoncé’s eye-catching red carpet getups, then you already know that Lawson is a seasoned designer with a flair for creating unforgettable looks. Well, she’s done it again.
