You may not be able to catch a Solange Knowles A Seat At The Table tour this summer, but we have some good news for you.
While at Coachella this weekend, the singer chatted with Complex about touring for her critically acclaimed album, revealing that a “traditional” tour would not be coming to a city near you.
“No, there’s no tour in the works—right now I have two different shows,” she told the publication. The 30-year-old Grammy winner has performed at several venues since the album dropped, from Saturday Night Live to the Peace Ball: Voices of Hope and Resistance in January. She also hit the stage for South by Southwest and Coachella last weekend. But she made it known that there’s a difference between stage shows and more intimate shows at museums and galleries.

“I have one that is more a performance piece show that is being performed in museums—and more in the art context. And then I have festival shows. As of now, I’ve not scheduled a proper tour in the more traditional sense.”
Adding, “I’ve had a really, really great time: musically arranging, choreographing, art directing, costume designing—this is where I thrive and get so much joy.”
But for those of you who’d like to see Solo, we got you. The singer is on this year’s Essence Festival line-up, which also includes Chaka Khan, Diana Ross, Mary J. Blige, Chance the Rapper, Jill Scott and more.
