As a member of one of the biggest-selling female music groups of all time,
Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas -of TLC- is no stranger to the spotlight.
She’s had
high-profile success with her bandmates– winning multiple awards and scoring countless chart-topping hits, but ‘fashion model’ isn’t a term that was always pegged to her list of accomplishments. Yet, for the launch of its women’s intimates and loungewear apparel campaign, Black-owned fashion company DAYO has tapped Thomas to be the face of the brand.
DAYO (the
Yoruba translation for ‘Happiness has arrived’), is
a female-run business founded by its CEO Yolanda White. White’s aesthetic for the brand incorporates 100% natural fibers, wrinkle resistance and American-made products. Available merchandise includes a ‘Flirty Boat Neck Crop’ top, an ‘Elegant High Waist’ skirt and a ‘Dramatic Free Flowing Wrap’ dress.
On why Thomas was selected as the face of the brand, White says, “Chilli embodies everything that DAYO is recognizing and celebrating in today’s woman.” Thomas -standing in agreement with White- says, “I believe self-love is the foundation of true beauty. For most women home is the core, it’s an extension of self. I love that DAYO is empowering women to define themselves on their own terms.”
Prices range from $200 -$350 and are available online at
