SZA is having a seminal year following the release of her Grammy-nominated “Ctrl” album. But hearing that former President Barack Obama liked one of her songs is what really got her excited.
The singer shared a text message exchange on Instagram Friday that showed her reaction to her song “Broken Clocks” landing on Obama’s annual playlist of favorite songs.
“LMAO you are a liar,” she responded when friend texted her the news. “Because I love him and want him to be king.”
The former President released the list earlier this week and it included the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Andra Day, Frank Ocean, Travi$ Scott, J Balvin and Bruce Springsteen among others.
“During my presidency, I started a tradition of sharing my reading lists and playlists,” he wrote. “It was a nice way to reflect on the works that resonated with me and lift up authors and artists from around the world. With some extra time on my hands this year to catch up, I wanted to share the books and music that I enjoyed most. From songs that got me moving to stories that inspired me, here’s my 2017 list — I hope you enjoy it and have a happy and healthy New Year.”
Congrats SZA!
