T-Pain just gave his fans a heartbreaking realization.
The singer, 32, shared the news on Twitter first on Tuesday, revealing to his fans that theyโve been singing the wrong words to his 2007 song โBuy U A Drank.โ
He shared the correct lyrics in a tweet, writing, โItโs โand thenโ not โooh weeโ but really itโs whatever you want it to be.โ
For years, fans thought he was singing โIโmma buy you a drank/ooh wee Iโmma take you home with meโ in the chorus, when he was actually singing, โIโmma buy you a drank/And then Iโmma take you home.โ
His Twitter followers were shocked to read the news, some tweeting in reply, โWhy must you ruin my childhood!!โ or refusing to acknowledge the truth by tweeting, โIt donโt even sound right with that.โ
But T-Pain kept it up, adding in a second tweet that fans had also botched the lyrics to his 2010 collaboration โAll I Do Is Winโ with DJ Khaled, Rick Ross, Ludacris and Snoop Dogg.
โI donโt wanna throw another wrench in your childhood but also itโs โEverybody hands go UPโฆโฆโฆand they stay thereโฆโฆโฆ.AND THEY SAY YEAHโ sorry #AlliDoIsWin Iโm from #Tallahassee bro. Thatโs just how some of us talk.โ
Most believed they song said โand they stay thereโ twice, with the second often yelled out by fans with extra emphasis and enthusiasm.
Again, his followers responded with their disbelief, others taking the time to appreciate his honesty, but adding that he didnโt have to offer it.
โYou didnโt have to do this. lol Do you know how many years Mary J Blige let us think it was โdanceryโ and not โdance soireeโ?โ someone tweeted, referring to the song โFamily Affairโ.
