Two months after a devastating mental health crisis that almost claimed her life, singer Tamar Braxton is opening up about the stressful life circumstances that lead up to it.
Back In July, Braxton was rushed to the hospital after being found unresponsive in her hotel room by her fiancé David Adefeso. In this no holds barred conversation on Taraji P. Henson’s new Facebook Watch show Peace Of Mind With Taraji, Braxton says she turned to suicide because she saw no other way out of the pain she was experiencing at the time.
“Everything was going wrong,” she tells Henson and co-host Tracie Jade. “I had no relationship with my family. I was estranged from my sisters and my mother. I worked with my family. We had no healing time.” She continues to say that her relationship with Adefeso was “out of control,” and that she saw no signs of a reconciliation. Braxton also felt a disconnect with her 7-year-old son Logan, whom she co-parents with her ex-husband Vince Herbert. “Yeah I checked in, but I wasn’t really checking in,” she admits. “Yeah I’d make him some food, but I didn’t know if he liked it.”

In a devastating confession, Braxton says she began to believe that her son Logan would be better off without her. “Logan was the reason why I made that decision,” she says. “I just felt like he deserved better. I felt like I was embarrassing him, being a fool on TV.”
In a recent Instagram post, Braxton thanked God for her second chance at life. “God thank you for saving me,” she wrote. “You know my true heart. Despite what the world may think of me, you kept me here for a reason. You are a God of second chances, and this second chance I won’t take for granted. The world can often be a dark place but I must resort to you for my light.”
During this segment of Peace Of Mind With Taraji, Braxton will also be joined by a mother and daughter who share their mental breakdown experience and how they broke the generational cycle. The episode will premiere Monday, December 21st on Facebook Watch.
