Tamera Mowry-Housley is over people’s opinions of her hubby! The Real co-host defended her man, Adam Housley, on Tuesday’s episode of the talk show against assumptions that he is racist because he worked for Fox News.
Housley, who is white, left his job as an on-air reporter on the network last month.
“There are some people who think that my husband is racist because he worked for a certain channel,” Mowry-Housley said. “I’m gonna look in that camera right there and let everybody know my husband is not a racist.”
Her comment came as the show’s roundtable of hosts were discussing Julie Chen’s decision to step away from hosting duties at CBS’ The Talk after her husband Les Moonves was ousted as president of the network. He was let go over allegations of sexual assault.
Mowry-Housley, who identifies as bi-racial, has opened up in the past about the racist criticism she’s received for marrying her husband.
“It’s hurtful because my husband and I are so openly and fine with showing love, but people choose to look past love and spew hate,” she said in a 2014 episode of OWN’s Oprah: Where Are They Now? “That’s what hurts me because I’ve never experienced so much hate ever in my life.”
“I couldn’t even fathom or think of these words, because I’m a product of it,” she continued. “My mom is a beautiful black woman and my dad is an amazing white man, and I grew up seeing a family. I didn’t grow up saying, ‘Oh, that’s a white man.’”
