It’s been over a decade since Taraji P. Henson earned acclaim for her role as Yvette in John Singleton’s Baby Boy and the actress is showing no signs of slowing down.
In a recent interview with Rolling Out about her upcoming thriller No Good Deed, the Oscar nominee talked about the career she has been able to build.
“I have built an empire in one generation,” said Henson. “I’ve done what my mother wasn’t able to do or her mother. That’s pretty huge.”
In addition to the rom-com’s we love her for like Baby Boy and the Think Like A Man films, the Washington D.C. native has also acted in several award-winning dramas, including Hustle & Flow and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, which garnered her Best Supporting Actress Academy Award nomination. She is also an executive producer on No Good Deed.

The single mother says it’s important to her that her son Marcel knows he should also protect what she has built for them, especially through his behavior online.
“My son does not remember the bad times,” she told the magazine. “I preach to him that he should protect it [everything she’s worked for] as well. I emphasize him protecting it as well, with social media, [telling him to] be careful what you put out there. They are going to try to get to me through you,” she added.
