T.I. is showing Lil Wayne some tough love in response to Wayne’s troubling comments about Black people and racism.
The two rap superstars have been close friends for over a decade, but Tip didn’t let that stop him from calling out his fellow man for the highly questionable comments he’s been making about not believing racism exists.
In a now-viral video clip taken from a tense interview with ABC’s Nightline last week, the Louisiana rapper is heard questioning the necessity of the Black Lives Matter organization, suggesting that him being a rich Black man in America is proof enough that Black lives matter in the country.
“I am a young, Black, rich m***a***ka,” Wayne says in the clip. “If that don’t let you know that America understands Black m***a***kas matter these days, I don’t know what it is.”
He later took his comments even further, adding that he doesn’t feel connected to things that don’t have anything to do with him, after arrogantly stating that his life matters, “especially to my b*****s.”
T.I. addressed Wayne’s comments in a lengthy post on his personal Instagram page shortly after the video clip went viral. Among other things, Tip reminded Wayne that their daughters grew up together and suggested he stop embarassing himself, as well as those who have supported him throughout his career, by making statements that contribute to the oppression of African-Americans.
