Tia Mowry-Hardrict has been basking in the glow of being a new mother again after giving birth to a girl just two weeks ago.
But the actress is also keeping it very real about her postpartum body, choosing her own experience to remind women that they don’t have to be pressured by unrealistic timelines to return to their pre-pregnancy bodies.
“This is MY #postpartum. Two weeks in,” she wrote underneath of photo of herself. “Do I still have a belly? Yes. I actually look like I’m 4 months pregnant and that is OKAY.”
She explains that she wanted to expose the false expectations we put on women: “Ladies, it’s okay that our bodies are not PERFECT after our babies are born,” she wrote. “Give yourself time. Go at your own pace. Don’t allow people to put a time limit on YOUR body.”
Her key advice is: to love and embrace our bodies.
“You’ve just accomplished a miracle! Love yourself, love your new body, embrace it. If you want to make changes then that’s your desire and no one else’s.”
In November, Mowry-Hardrict announced she was expecting her second child and in January confirmed she was due to welcome a baby girl.
The couple tied the knot in April 2008 and in 2011, gave birth to their oldest son Cree.
