Tiffany Haddish, the breakout star of the year’s biggest comedy, Girls Trip, is set to have a banner year.
The star’s comedy special, She Ready! From Hood to Hollywood, aired on Showtime on Friday and during the special Haddish joked about the time Girls Trip co-star Jada Pinkett Smith told her to knock It off with knock-off bags.
“I had a bag on, we talking and stuff, we laughing, I lean back and laugh and the little lock on the bag, the little ‘Michael Kors’ lock, just melted off and hit the ground,” Haddish joked.
“Jada goes, ‘Um, Tiffany? What kind of bag is that?’ and I was like, ‘This? Girl, this is a Martin Luther King bag. Free at last, free at last. We breaking the chains in this thang, girl, that’s what this bag is!’” Haddish added. “ And, she’s [Jada] like ‘Tiffany, you cannot be walking around here with knock-off bags anymore. You have to wear designer stuff. When this movie comes out, you’re gonna be considered an A-list actress and you cannot be walking around here with fake s–t.’”
The comedian continued that she told Smith she couldn’t quite afford the real stuff yet, but Smith went on to give Haddish a little lesson in designers, making sure she knew that carrying knock-offs is a no no.
However, with Girls Trip recently passing the $100 million dollar mark and Haddish receiving tons of praise for her role, we’re sure the star won’t have a problem getting real designer bags for free.
