The New Orleans man convicted of killing the brothers of reality star Toya Wright was sentenced to life in prison on Monday.
Antoine “Tweezy” Edwards received the mandatory sentence for the crimes that took the lives of brothers, 24-year-old Ryan “Rudy” Johnson, and 31-year-old Joshua Johnson, according to Nola.com. New Orleans police said Edwards killed them after a July 31, 2016 argument. The two were found dead with multiple gun wounds near their home in the seventh ward of New Orleans.
After eyewitnesses claimed they saw Edwards in an argument with the Johnson brothers before their deaths, and even one woman who claimed Edwards confessed to the crimes, he was convicted on Sept. 12.
Still, Juan Fiol, Edwards’ defense attorney, tried to dent the witnesses credibility, claiming they were “drug addicts” and “liars.” A request for a new trial was denied.
After news broke of the incident, Wright took to social media to remember her brothers. She captioned one photo, “My angels.”
