That little birdie whispering in your ear to get your tickets for this year’s ESSENCE Festival just got louder with the addition of Tweet to an already powerful lineup.
At the event held over July 4th weekend in New Orleans, the Southern Hummingbird, best known for her 2002 hit “Oops (Oh My),” will continue the comeback she launched in February with Charlene, her first album since 2005.
Tweet, whose real name is Charlene Keys, will join a who’s who of R&B that includes heavy hitters like headliners Mariah Carey, Kendrick Lamar and Maxwell, legendary veterans like Babyface, Charlie Wilson and New Edition, and hot new artists like Andra Day, Leon Bridges and Lion Babe. Also rocking the stage at the Superdome will be Ciara, Jeremih, Faith Evans, Tyrese and many more.
Charlene marks Tweet’s return to the game after a hiatus from music due to some personal and professional drama. The album reunites the Grammy-nominated singer with Missy Elliott and Timbaland on “Somebody Else Will,” bringing back the same dream team that took “Oops (Oh My)” to No. 1 on the R&B charts.
No doubt, this songbird will have the crowd flying high when ESSENCE Fest goes down June 30-July 3.
