Uzo Aduba has us experiencing all kinds of ‘fro envy on the gram.
The Orange is the New Black actress must have been feeling her awesome hair-day when she posted a photo of it in its full-glory recently.
Breaking into show business wasn’t easy for Aduba, she told Essence last year when she graced the ESSENCE September issue, but she eventually learned to accept herself:
“This business will try to convince you that you’re not enough,” she said. That you’re not pretty enough, thin enough, talented enough, interesting enough, experienced enough, and I say, ‘Enough. Enough with that!’ Who are you to tell me that I am not enough when I know that I am more than enough? I cannot subscribe to anyone else’s idea of how I am meant to look, what size I am meant to be, whether I have a gap in my teeth, how I’m supposed to behave, what your idea of what my black womanhood is supposed to look like.
We are hoping she has that afro out and loud this upcoming week when she attends the Women’s March in Washington, following Donald Trump’s inauguration. She will be marching alongside the likes of Danai Gurira, Angelique Kidjo and Zendaya.
