Vanessa Williams has big plans for this coming Mother’s Day—work! The mother of four says she’ll be on stage in her latest Broadway play, Trip to Bountiful, reports People.
“I have a three o’clock matinee,” said Williams. “No rest for the weary. Maybe my kids will surprise me with a dinner afterwards.”
This Mother’s Day will be unique for WIlliams. She plans to honor her late grandmothers, who both died after fighting heart disease. In fact, they are the reason why she’s partnering with Bayer Aspirin on its Handbags & Hearts campaign. “I’m very, very aware of heart health,” said Williams. “I’m very mindful of my diet and exercise, and I think being a woman, you have to be. I’m a mother of four, I just turned 50 this year, and I want to be around for a long time.”
For those yet to experience motherhood, Williams has some words of wisdom. “Motherhood is one of the greatest gifts and surprises in life,” said Williams. “You always have to be prepared for the unexpected. You have to be able to surrender to whatever situation it is and do the best you can at any moment.”
