Serena Williams will give birth to her first child soon and her fans are patiently awaiting the baby’s arrival and any clues about her due date and gender. Will she give birth to a future female tennis champion like herself? Her big sister Venus Williams may have just revealed the answer.
In an interview with Eurosport, the tennis champ may have spilled the beans that her little sister is in fact expecting a girl.
When asked what Serena’s child will call her, the 36-year-old responded, “She’s going to call me ‘favorite aunt.'” Wait…did she just say “she”? Yes, she did.
Williams also shared that she and her other sisters, Lyndrea and Isha, are hoping that the tiny tot will bear one of their names.
“We’re all like, ‘Baby V, baby Lyn, baby Isha.’ We all want the baby to be named after us.”
The details surrounding Serena’s pregnancy have been surprising from the start.
The #1 tennis star in the world accidentally shared that she was expecting on Snapchat in April.
“Well, actually it was an accident. I was on vacation just taking some time for myself and I have this thing where I’ve been checking my status and taking pictures every week to see how far along I’m going,” she told Gayle King shortly after the news broke. “I didn’t tell a lot of people to be quite honest and I’d been saving it. On social media, you press the wrong button and… Thirty minutes later I missed four calls and I’m like, ‘That’s weird.’ But it was a good moment. I was only going to wait five or six more days [to share].”
Since sharing news that she will soon become a mother, Williams has been basking in the glow of her pregnancy, making her first public appearance with her baby bump at the MET Gala in May.
Neither Serena not her fiancé, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian have confirmed the news of her baby’s gender but whether it’s a boy or a girl, we know they are simply over the moon!
