Viola Davis says she’s trimming down for her role in the upcoming James Brown biopic, Get On Up.
The Oscar-nominated actress says she’s looking to Hugh Jackman, her Prisoners co-star, for dieting help. In fact, she’s following the “Wolverine Diet.”
“[I’m] losing a little weight,” Davis told People this weekend. “When I say ‘a little,’ I mean ‘a little.’ I’m not a weight girl much.”
Jackman’s “Wolverine Diet” sounds extreme, but it limits the time in which the participant can eat food to a period of eight hours. The other 16 hours of the day are spent fasting. “For eight hours in that day, you eat anything you want,” said Davis. “They tell you not to binge, but you choose those eight hours.”
Although Davis says she’s not a cranky person when she’s hungry, she is known to wake up in the middle of the night and have a sweet treat. She also says she’s a “former big girl” and that she loves a burger. “I like fat burgers, the turkey fat burgers and the ‘skinny’ fries. That being said, I eat a lot of low-carb pasta.”
Davis’ The Help co-star Octavia Spencer will also join the Tate Taylor directed biopic. 42 star Chadwick Boseman will play James Brown.
