Growing up, I thought this song was filled with so much feeling and passion but I couldn’t relate. Well, now that I’ve lived a little, I totally get it. It’s a plea to not become weaker in the midst of weakening situations. It’s a prayer to not lose one’s problem-solving ability in the midst of mind-boggling scenarios.
You see, when life happens and you find yourself feeling like a helpless baby, you can either succumb to the pressure and let circumstance define you or you can try, fight, push, persevere, and prove that with God’s help, you have the strength to overcome any and all things that life brings your way. And you don’t have to stop there. You can prove to yourself and the world that what doesn’t break you makes you stronger, wiser and better.
So I know this blog is short and to the point, but I hope you don’t miss the point. Perhaps the prayer shouldn’t be “God please move this mountain” or “remove these stumbling blocks,” but instead “God give me the strength to climb this mountain” and “Lord lead me around these stumbling blocks.”
Keep it pushing good people. God is able and so are you.
Love and blessings,
Mary Mary
